All Hotkeys & Shortcuts

Cinapse has keyboard shortcuts for the actions you use most. On a Mac, use ⌘ (Command); on a Windows PC, use Ctrl. Below, "Cmd/Ctrl" means Command on a Mac and Ctrl on a PC.

Copy, cut, paste & duplicate

  • Cmd/Ctrl + C: Copy the selected element(s) in a breakdown sheet.
  • Cmd/Ctrl + X: Cut the selected strip(s). Pair this with paste to move strips, including onto another board.
  • Cmd/Ctrl + V: Paste. Drops cut strips onto the board, or pastes copied elements into the selected breakdown sheet(s).
  • Cmd/Ctrl + D: Duplicate the selected strip(s) or breakdown sheet(s). Also duplicates the selected item in the Stripboard, Calendar, Layout, Color, and Reports managers.

Delete & remove

  • Strips: Delete or Backspace opens a confirmation to delete the strip and its associated breakdown sheet. Once deleted, this cannot be undone.
  • Elements in a breakdown sheet: Delete or Backspace removes the selected element(s) from that breakdown sheet only. To delete an element from the entire file, use the Element Manager.

Undo & redo

  • Cmd/Ctrl + Z: Undo
  • Shift + Cmd + Z: Redo (on Macs)
  • Ctrl + Y: Redo (on PCs)

Navigation

  • Cmd/Ctrl + E: Open the Element Manager.
  • Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + F: Toggle between split-panel and full-panel view on the Stripboard, Breakdown Sheet, Scrapyard, and Day Out of Days views.

Building your stripboard

  • Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + S: Add a new strip.
  • Cmd/Ctrl + B: Add a text banner.
  • Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + . (period): Add a day break.
  • Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + , (comma): Add a start-of-day banner.
  • Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + U: Add a unit break.
  • Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + O: Open Sort.

Selecting & moving strips

  • Cmd/Ctrl + A: Select every strip in the active section (main board, unscheduled, or Scrapyard).
  • Cmd/Ctrl + click: Select or deselect a single strip, day break, or text banner, one at a time.
  • Shift + click: Select a range of strips, day breaks, or text banners. Keep holding Shift to expand the range.
  • Move strips up/down: Select a strip, then press Enter. Use the up and down arrows to move the strip, then press Esc to exit keyboard drag-and-drop.
  • Esc: Clear your current selection or highlighting.

Breakdown sheets

  • Shift + click: Select a single element or several elements, one at a time. You can select elements from multiple categories.
