A category is the group an element belongs to: Cast, Background, Props, Vehicles, Wardrobe, Locations, and so on. Categories control how elements are colored and organized on your breakdown sheets and reports. Some are built-in (Scene, INT/EXT, Set, Synopsis, and the standard breakdown categories); others are custom ones you create.
Open the Category Manager
Inside the Element Manager, click the Categories button β this opens the Category Manager.
Add, edit, or delete a category
- Add a custom category: click Add new Category, name it, give it a color, enable cast properties (Drop/Pickups, etc.) if needed, and click Done. It appears at the bottom of the list.
- Edit: click a category to rename it or change its color.
- Delete a custom category: right-click it and choose Delete.
You can't delete built-in categories or change what they capture; you can only rename them or change their color.
Colors, font case & presets
In the Category Manager you can:
- Change category colors.
- Set the font case for all elements in a category (for example, forcing ALL CAPS). This is a global setting; it applies everywhere those elements appear.
- Save and load presets: use the Save / Load preset button to save a category setup and reuse it on other schedules, so you don't have to rebuild custom categories from scratch.
Production-wide events (Holidays, Hiatuses, etc.) appear on element calendars as read-only; change those in the Calendar Manager.
