Cinapse lets you mark up your stripboard with banners and day breaks, and control how everything looks. This article covers each banner and day-break type, how to add and edit them, and where to change colors, borders, and fonts.
The types at a glance:
- Text banner: a free-text row for company moves, lunches, changeovers, or notes (can include an estimated time).
- Day break: a divider between shooting days; carries the day number/date and can total the day's durations.
- Start-of-day / end-of-day banner: mark the top and bottom of a shooting day with the date and an auto-calculated duration.
- Weather banner: a location-aware banner showing the forecast and sunrise/sunset times.
Add a text banner
Select the [T] button at the top of the Stripboard panel (or press Cmd + B). In the panel that opens, type your text, optionally add an estimated time, and set the text size, alignment, and color plus the banner color. The banner is added below your selected strip (or at the bottom if none is selected); drag to reposition. Right-click a banner to edit, duplicate, move to the Scrapyard, cut, copy, or delete it.
Add a day break
Click the calendar plus (+) button at the top of the Stripboard panel. The day break is added after your selected strip (or at the bottom). If your day-break design includes a duration, the hours and minutes are calculated automatically from the strips and banners within that day; add or move strips and the total updates. Right-click a day break to move it to the Scrapyard, cut, duplicate, or delete.
Start-of-day & end-of-day banners
You can add start-of-day and end-of-day banners automatically (when you use automatic day breaks) or manually. Use the Start of Day and End of Day buttons on the stripboard, or the auto day break button. They carry the day's date and an auto-calculated duration. Dates flow from your production start date, which you set in the Calendar Manager.
Unit & multi-unit day breaks
On the Studio plan, day breaks can carry a unit (Main Unit, 2nd Unit, and so on), and each unit keeps its own day count. To show more than one unit on the same day, use the {Day # / Unit} option on your day breaks (Layout Manager > your layout > Day Breaks). See Stripboard: building and working with strips for more on units.
Weather, sunrise & sunset banners
The location-aware weather banner shows the forecast and sunrise/sunset times for a shooting day. It's automatically available on the Professional plan and above: enter the address of a location and Cinapse pulls the weather and sun times in automatically.
Fonts, colors & borders
- Fonts: the font on the stripboard view itself isn't customizable; you choose the font on reports in Report settings when generating a report.
- Text banner text: set size, alignment, and color right in the banner's panel when you add or edit it.
- Colors & borders: strip, banner, and day-break colors and borders are set in the Color Manager; open Color Manager > Borders to show, hide, or customize borders, and you can set them per color palette.
- Layout & fields: to change which fields appear and the overall design of strips, banners, and day breaks, use the Layout Manager (pick your layout, then the matching tab, for example Day break).
Troubleshooting
Banner text isn't showing, or formatting looks off after an update. Do a hard refresh (Mac: โ + Shift + R ยท Windows: Ctrl + Shift + R) and reopen the file. If it persists, contact us with your project name.
