If a scene isn't showing on your stripboard, it hasn't been deleted. Any strip that isn't placed on your active board is unscheduled, and it's waiting in one of two places: the Scrapyard and the Unscheduled area of your board. A strip represents one scene (one breakdown sheet), so "unscheduled scenes" and "unscheduled strips" mean the same thing.
The Scrapyard
The Scrapyard is storage for strips you don't want on your active board, for example scenes that are omitted, already shot, or belong to a different episode or block.
To open the Scrapyard:
- In the header of either working panel, click the view dropdown. It shows the panel's current view name (such as Stripboard or Breakdown) with a small arrow beside it.
- Select Scrapyard from the menu.
The Scrapyard opens in that panel. The same menu also switches a panel to the Stripboard, Breakdown, Calendar, or Day out of Days, and includes Toggle full panel (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + F). Because Cinapse uses a two-panel layout, a handy setup is to keep your Stripboard in one panel and the Scrapyard in the other, so you can drag strips straight across.
The Unscheduled area
Strips that haven't been placed into your shooting order yet collect in the Unscheduled section of your board, so you can pull them onto the stripboard when you're ready to schedule them.
Move an unscheduled strip onto your schedule
Two ways:
- Right-click the strip and choose Move to stripboard.
- In split-panel view, drag and drop the strip from the Scrapyard panel onto the Stripboard panel.
To send a strip the other way, right-click and choose Move to scrapyard, or drag it back.
Episodic files
If you're crossboarding across episodes or blocks, a strip created on one board automatically appears in every other board's Scrapyard. From there you can pull it onto that board's stripboard or leave it in the Scrapyard. See Scrapyard and Crossboarding: scheduling across units, blocks & episodes for more.
Show unscheduled strips on a report
When you build a report in the Reports Manager, open the Strips section and turn on Show unscheduled strips to include them in the output.
